Lehman Brothers, was founded in 1910. We are a full service printer located in New Haven, Ct. We have been housed at 191 foster street since 1929 occupying the space of a former screw factory that produced product for the nearby former Marlin Firearms company. It's appropriate for us  to occupy the site of a former industrial revolutionary building only a few miles away from Eli Whitney's factory since our main product, engraved stationery has changed little since that time.

Lehmans still run the business which was established by Izadore Lehman in in 1910. We have occupied a number of different locations over the years including stores at the Hotel Duncan, the New Haven train station and 150 Court Street. Currently the fourth generation of the family manages the 30+ workforce.

Engraved stationery is the main product sold. This includes letterheads, business cards, envelopes and of course the engraved wedding invitation (frequently for children of former brides and grooms.) We also offer embossing, foil stamping and thermography- being one of the few printers in the area who handle all these different processes.

Lehman counts amongst its customers large national concerns such as NBC and also engraves for such upscale customers as Ralph Lauren, and Hermes. We also have created stationery for venerable New Haven companies such as Eastern Elevator and the Dahill Corporation. L.B. Lehman supported Yale football for many years and was active in the Walter Camp foundation. Lehman Brothers engraves the Walter Camp all star certificates. Connections with the arts have always gone hand in hand with the business of creating high end printed products.

Lehman brothers has been able to operate for all most 100 years with its basic product still being produced. We still own and operate equipment purchased in the 1920's. The technology of engraving stationery has not changed much since then. However, the company has stayed with the times by offering new printing processes as they have been developed. The advent of the computer has had the most impact on the company especially in the prepress area where type that used to be set by hand is now imported directly form the internet to printing plates. The company has always welcomed change while also always producing its "original" product.
